I have been part of a long history of Chiropractic in Alberta. My "Great Uncle Will" and his wife were two of the first chiropractors in Western Canada. My father, Dr. Ross Lawson, practiced in downtown Calgary for 35 years and during that time was instrumental in lobbying the government to include Chiropractic into the Alberta Health Care Plan.
In the years following my graduation from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1978, I've served our Provincial and National associations in areas of continuing education, health care restructuring and Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). I am qualified in the areas of full spine and extremity chiropractic adjustment techniques, anatomical acupuncture, intramuscular stimulation and Active Release Techniques. As the director of the Downtown Integrative Health Group I have enjoyed the interesting and challenging process of integrating a variety of treatment options into a working model of natural health care.
Personally, my main recreation continues to be road and mountain biking and cross-country skiing. Besides the excellent training and stress relief I get, these sports periodically allow me to experience injuries that make me glad I'm part of an injury recovery team. I am cared for by my wife, Susan, and my four grown and very talented children.
